Junior Model United Nations (JMUN) is for grades 6 to 8 and Model United Nations (MUN) is for grades 9 to 12 as an Extra-Curricular Activity throughout the entire academic year.

DWIGHTMUN students also organise internal Committee Days and events and host an annual Model United Nations conference at our campus, which is open to participants from other schools, both national and international.

DWIGHTMUN students also attend multiple external MUN conferences every year.

Why is Model United Nations important?

MUN is a platform that allows students to develop not only their speaking & debating skills, but also their academic writing skills as MUN position papers and resolutions require specific vocabulary items and structures.

MUN is a significant addition to university applications and can also be valuable when applying for job opportunities upon graduation. Students receive certificates after attending a conference and this can be added to their application and work portfolios.

Academic skills aside, students have the opportunity to research and discuss key issues from around the globe, from the perspective of another delegation that has been assigned to them. MUN promotes empathy, tolerance and diplomacy while navigating the world around us. Negotiation, compromise and cultural awareness is key.
